How do they decide where are the games played in a series?
In the NBA Finals, Dallas Mavericks started out with an advantage. They were scheduled for more home games than away games, and all sports series have the same dilema. My question is how do they decide who gets lucky and has more home games? Especially since so far as of Jun 19, the series has been stirctly home court advantage. Would a win by Dallas be as glorious as a win by Miami since they started with a disadvantage.

- It;'s done with a computer
- Home court advantage is decided based on initial seeding, with the higher seeded team having home court advantage. In the finals, where the two teams were not seeded against each other, the team with the better record gets home court advantage. Normally in a 7 game series, games are played as follows for the higher seeded team (H=play at home, R=play on the road) H, H, R, R, H, R, H However, in the finals, that changes to be: H, H, R, R, R, H, H
- The higher seed (how the team is ranked in their conference w/ how many wins they have) gets the extra game in all the NBA finals. Dallas gets 4 games and Miami gets 3. Dallas had game one and two, Miami got game three, four, and five, Dallas gets the last two games, games six and seven
- Like dpawson said, in the playoffs its (h=home, r=road) h-h-r-r-h-r-h for the higher seed. In the finals, it goes h-h-r-r-r-h-h. The higher seed is the team with the better record, which is the Mavericks. If it was by seeding, the Heat would have had home court since they are a two seed, and the Mavs are a four seed.
- It Changes By What Seed Like 1 and 3 1 Would Get Home Court First But It Madders Bye Who Finishe Their Previos Series First 2
