Are Xbox arcade games playable if you are not connected to the internet?

I am going to get the system and would like to know if after you buy the games through xbox live, do you have to be connected to the internet to play them...thanks.

1. Yes and no. You can play the games online or offline is you are playing on the original hard drive with the original system. If you connect your hard drive to a different console, you must sign in to XBox Live to be able to play the game.
