1. The advantages are that the player feels passion, thrill and demostrates competition. The disadvantages are that they are a distraction by taking academic time and could weaken your eyes. What makes them so addicting is the control you have and the game is dependant on you, that is the power that is addicting.
2. There are many advantages of video games in general. However, that's not what you asked, so I'll just tell you about Online Games..You didn't specify any type of games, so we'll use World of Warcraft. Advantages- It teaches team work, patience, typing skills, problem solving, and following directions. Disadvantages- It takes so long to play, and takes up a lot of your time, therefor often negatively influencing your grades/job. A lot of bad kids/adults play it also, so they may have a negative influence on you as well. No online games are actually addicting if you ask me. They're just like regular video games. Really fun til you beat it. And the "Addicting" thing about WoW is that it takes so long just to get a 70, and then there are so many other classes and professions that it hardly feels you're done.
