what's this classic arcade game?

I played it on the original Playstation, on a game called classic arcade games. You fly your ship (in space) and approach these flying things and you have to shoot at them while they shoot back at you. and you destroy on at a time. and on each level the enemy ships are in dif. formations that make each level harder?!
