Game Plugs

How many games do you have to play before you are no longer considered a rookie?

Like Mikhail Grabovski has played 68 games over the last 3 seasons, but is still considered to be a rookie. So, how many games/seasons do you have to play to not be called a rookie?

  1. 1 complete season with the team
  2. ...I think it's more of how well you play.. you could have played 5 years, but if you still suck ....then your still a rookie lol
  3. The Maximum (for Calder trophy eligibility)is a total of 25 NHL games in any SINGLE season OR you cannot be over 26 years of age... Grabovski didnt play that many games before this season-he played in 24 games for the Habs last year(barely under the wire)-and 3 the year before.
  4. Rookie Qualifications To be considered a rookie, a player must not have played in 25 or more NHL games in any preceding seasons, nor in six or more NHL games in each of any two preceding seasons. Any player at least 26 years of age (by September 15th of that season) is not considered a rookie.
