Game Plugs

Can the PS2 controller of GH3 with the PS2 game work on a PS3?

Ok so i'm putting in my game and it runs, then i plug in the controller with the adapter that plugs a ps2 controller to a ps3. the red light comes on in the controller piece and the guitar but the buttons dont work on the guitar! HELP!! well now the buttons work but the strum doesnt!!

1. Just draw one of course only with the official crayola brand crayons.
2. Seems like it don't work, maybe your PS3 can't play PS2 games. The controller should work, can't tell you why, need more info
