Does feminine=weak?

Why is it that anything 'girly' is considered weak or bad? I've noticed that girls are more admired for liking stereotypically 'masculine' things (sports, video games, etc.) than they are for like 'girly' things like ballet, dolls, etc. If a girl plays sports or likes video games, she's seen as tough and strong. If a boy so much as looks at a Barbie, people are ready to send him to the nearest psychiatrists' couch. I think it's so sad that, in a world where women fight for equality and respect, we still see being feminine as something bad. What's wrong with the color pink, or putting on a dress? I've even noticed things in magazines like, "She looked pretty and feminine, yet strong and powerful", as if you can't be pretty, feminine, AND strong and powerful. I don't get it.

Feminine does not mean "weak", no. Feminine means the qualities that are associated with women. Weakness isn't one of them.
Women, for some reason that totally eludes me, are considered the 'weaker sex'. Somebody is absolutely and totally out of their mind. It is the women who get the babies! They live longer. In many cultures the women are the hardest workers, in some they're even the only workers. I've never believed one word about women being weak. Most certainly not weaker then men.
No it does not. You can be of strong character, presence and assertive yet feminine in dress and appearance. You will be able to see through people who take this as weakness. Just like my favorite saying, do not confuse nice with stupid. As for boys playing with a Barbie doll, GI Joe and I had a lot of fun with Barbie.

If a girl plays video games, or is into sports, some guys really like it. I've seen instances where gentle, kind guys are liked by women. There really is no point to stereotypes other than a speedy generalization. For being pretty and feminine yet strong and powerful, onlookers admire the beauty of the model - but they have no other way to put it into words other than through stereotypes (even if it's not negative it can still be a stereotype). Feminine does not have to = weak. If we put as much time into exercising as strong people do, we can be just as good at it. Same with looking your absolute best. Even in my explanation, I have used stereotypes. It's such a big part of defining majorities that it's hard not to use. Just be an individual. You may contribute to the overall group, but you are not the group. Do what you want to do and don't look back.
I know many of my Business colleagues who are feminine, who are both (as you say) "effeminate" in social-circles who are POWERHOUSES in the boardroom! It is called SEXUAL-STEREO-TYPING that both constrains or builds momentum in their lives (professional and personal.)
feminine is defined simply as manifesting the characteristics of a woman. unfortunatly, throughout the majority of human history, being a female has been associated with weakness, ecspecially in the context of males. stereo-typing, however, is fading, ecspecially in this recent generation wear males and females are experimenting with gender in fashion ("emo", "goth", "punk", etc.) and with the expansion of gay-awareness/gay-rights. Just remember how new women's rights really are: we're dealing with 4000 yrs of general history vs. 60yrs of women's right's history. So chin up! :)

" Because anything that need's to be done encorperating artisticness instead of sadisticness, is some how percieve'd as a threat to most non artistic males, due to a lack of true understanding or being able to relate it's value to anything of masculine purpose . . . How ironical we value the right to freedom of speech and self expression to the point where we'll sacrifice life and limb to preserve it, and yet critisize someone who's into poetry or classical music or simply reading a book at the library, that's if any one can eve read anymore, kid's using gun's to comunicate, how's that for manliness, dare any sports finatic critisize a kid sporting a 357 magnum ever think of this? and i don't wanna plant any seeds, any one notice all the shootings are done by the male of the species, when's the last tme you heard of a female packing heat and pulling an academic rendition of gunfight at the OK Coral? weaker sex? i think not, just more intelligent along being far more calcultive, men only built there machines, it's the women who push the buttons, and that you don't learn, at Gold's Gym . . . Niether women or men are weaker or stronger, women can't be men by imitating a man, i can paint myself green that doesn't make me a tree, and would i want to trade being an adimate human being for something that stands still only to eventually be cut down anyways to sooner or later be nothing more than a coffee table in some @ss hole's living room? . . . And as fo men, they can watch all the sports they want and play with GI Joes but i doubt they'd be fool hardy enough to call one of there favorite athletes, who may be experiencing a bad day, yet is still far superior to them as far as physical conditioning goes, especially a boxer or wrestler, but even say some one like Tiger Woods, would he be considered weak cause he engages in a more aristicratic type of sport such as golf, payed in more sophisticated setting, such as a finely groomed lawn instead of rock 'em sock 'em grid iorn such G I Joe would prefer, and speaking of GI Joe who of course we know is ficticious, what if he was real and played mozart on the piano, think you'd have the balls to call him weak or worse an @ss hole for being into girly music, and then walk a way in one peice, or even better, barbie doll was real for a night and invited you to get laid for the night but first you had to recite Mac Beth ferbatum, that means word 4 word for the stronger segment, would you consider that weak because strong men and women don't read shakespeare . . . " I think it's so sad that, in a world where women fight for equality and respect, " . . . And getting sadder all the time, but don't take my word for it just wait till the next school shooting, maybey it may be a one of the weaker sex next time around who finnaly got sick and tired of being calle'd, the weaker sex . . . First of all football players take ballet to make themselves stronger so it is definitely not weak but mainly girls take it so its considered girly but its not.
